Sharing the Journey

Supporting parents and families of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children.

Welcome

Are you the parent of a d/Deaf or hard of hearing child? Whether your child is a newly identified toddler or a tech-loving teenager, Sharing the Journey can help.

We are an independent organisation established by parents of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children. Our goal is to provide information and support to other parents of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children, regardless of the communication, education and technological decisions they have made or will make for their children.

This means we will support you whether your child speaks or signs; whether he attends mainstream or special school; whether he has a cochlear implant or not. We welcome all parents and all children and strive to maintain a culture of mutual respect at all times.

We can help:

Many parents of d/Deaf and hard of hearing children have concerns about supporting their child's communication, education, and social inclusion needs. We can help you address these concerns by:

  • Introducing you to other parents of D/HH children, who can offer support and practical information.
  • Introducing you to D/HH adults, who can answer your questions and share their experiences.
  • Providing information on Early Communication Intervention, so you can give your child the best possible start.
  • Providing opportunities for d/Deaf and hard of hearing children to socialise in a fun, supportive and respectful environment.
